EV & Nick's Civil Ceremony Reception
Seeing each other a couple of times at work meetings was how EV & Nick first met but were never formally introduced. It was at the company trip that Nick tried hard to strike a conversation. Followed by a badminton game, several SMSes & a couple of dates, the two hit it off!
Nick loved showering EV with surprises which never failed to make her heart skip a beat! Soon, conversations about marriage was in the books & both decided to tie the knot by the end of the year.
With 8 months to plan, they decided the marriage registration was most important. They also wanted a garden ceremony. What better place than Covershots as the venue was located in a nice cozy house with a beautiful garden. It was ideal!
Once they got the date booked, the rest of the plans just fell into place. Covershots planned the whole marriage registration and friends contributed their help. One of those rare couples that can testify that planning a wedding was not at all stressful!
EV loved lemons. That’s how the wedding theme came about. She’s the “lemon” (it’s the slimmer version between
the two citrus fruit) while Nick is the “orange”. To infuse some sense of traditon to the wedding, the chinese red wedding knot was incorporated onto her invitation. Hence, her theme colors were yellow, orange and red.
The couple was blessed to have so many people offering to help out in the wedding. A close friend helped with the printing of the invites. EV’s mom tailored her sisters’, nieces & nephews outfit so everyone could come in the right combination of colors. The couple also encourage guests to come in the theme colors so it’ll look good in the pictures. EV’s relatives from Indonesia even took the effort to tailormade their outfits to match the color theme!
Covershots lend their creativity & did a great job with the ring pillow which was in theme color - orange fabric pillow, accented with an oriental button.
EV & Nick loves nasi lemak so they ordered the best in town -Tanglin Nasi Lemak. Unfortunately the bride didn't had a chance to eat but everyone else enjoyed it! They had the best Beef rendang, Sotong sambal, Ayam goreng. Yummy...
EV’s mom in law helped with cooking some finger food for the kids menu. They had hot dogs and nuggets. Guests were treated to a delighful array of local kuih-muih - all in the wedding theme colors.
For desserts, EV’s older & younger sisters baked some pretty cupcakes. It didn’t just looked pretty but tasted heavenly! The wedding cake was an orange poppy seed flavored 2 tier crowned with the lemon & orange at the top.
The couple wanted very much to include the kids in their celebration. Since it was EV’s nephew’s birthday, they held a small celebration for him at the wedding. He adores jelly so they got him a jelly cake & the rest of the kids all got a party pack each. Everyone got excited over the piñata - a bright colored paper container filled with sweets & toys, suspended on a rope from the tree branch. The blindfolded, stick-wielding kids had loads of fun trying to break the piñata in order to collect the sweets!
The highlight of the day were speeches made by closed friends which brought tears to the bride’s eyes. Overall, the planning of the wedding was easy for the couple. “We just needed to be there to sign the registration paper and the rest were taken care of. All we needed to was to enjoy ourselves”. Everything was well handed by Covershots. “The event was made meaningful with the presence of relatives and friends from far and near who came to share the joy with us”.
